Bhavan’s Suruchi Kendra launched a Life skill enhancement programme Leap Ahead on September 28,2019 at Maharana Pratap Auditorium in conjunction with Enable Me a trainer and development company focusing on providing solutions to new age problems.. The first batch of life skill enhancement programme Leap Ahead culminated successfully on Sunday,17th November2019.

It was a new initiative of Jaipur Kendra. The first batch consisted of 24 students drawn exclusively from class 8 of the two Bhavan’s schools of Jaipur.

UNICEF has defined life skills as behavior change or behavior development approach to balance the three areas knowledge, attitude and skills into actual abilities. Nearly 11 basic abilities have been identified they are 1. Effective communication 2. Managing emotions 3.Interpersonal relationship 4. Creative thinking 5. Critical thinking 6. Self awareness 7. Time management 8. Decision making 9. Coping with stress 10. Empathy 11. Anger management.ar.

All the above abilities were taught in the form modules by experts of the field with corporate and educational background. The programme consisted of mentor led classes (Modules) devoting 70% time to activities like group discussions, question & answer sessions, role play, group activities, games & videos. All the classes were highly engaging and engrossing. Each day nearly 4 to 5 hours were devoted to each module. The results of the program were very encouraging. We could easily observe the changes or the transformation the students have undergone. Almost all the students showed a marked improvement in their communication skills, self-confidence, stage fear, self-awareness, time management and so on.

Another important feature of the programme was engagement of the parents. We held regular parent teacher meet where we shared with them the purpose of this program and requested them to be a partner in this process. We received full cooperation from most of them.

One to one parent feedback session was also held which gave us an opportunity to know the child and their family background better. We gave customized advise to each parent to deal with the weak areas of their ward for better success of the programme. The parents gave very encouraging feedback and openly shared the observable changes in the approach and attitude of their wards.

The final day saw the presentation of a comprehensive report by the program manager Ms. Abhilasha Vyas (Alumni of BVB 1998 batch) feedback from the students and Parents and distribution of certificates by the Chairman Jaipur Kendra Shri V.C. Surana. The chairman expressed his happiness on the success of the program and advised to explore the possibility of engaging more and more students in this kind of programme.

The program advisor was Shri Rajendra Bhanawat (IAS Retd) member of Advisory committee of Bhavan’s Jaipur Kendra, Head of the program was Smt. Priyadarshini Kachhwaha Consultant, former and founder Principal BVBV Pratapnagar.
