The first Dr. K.M. Munshi Memorial Inter college drama competition preliminary round was organized by Suruchi Kendra on 14th September, 2019 at Maharana Pratap Auditorium.
The Theme for this year competition was “MAHATAMA GANDHI-MANAVTA KI EK AKSHAY DHAROHAR” to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of the father of the nation.
The competition attracted 8 leading colleges/universities of Jaipur. Each team presented a 20 minute play with maximum of 12-15 participants. The competition saw the presentation of various aspects of life of Mahatma Gandhi in a variety of forms. The participating colleges were 1. Parishkar College of global excellence 2. S.S. Jain Subodh P.G. Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Rambagh 3. Dept. Of Dramatics, University of Rajasthan 4. Dr. B. Lal Institute Biotechnology 5. Seedling school of media studies, Jaipur National University (JNU) 6. JECRC University 7. Kanoria PG Mahila Mahavidyalaya 8. St. Xavier’s College, Jaipur.
A panel of 3 well known and experienced theatre personalities from Jaipur theatre namely Shri Narendra Arora, Smt. Babita Madan and Shri Vinod Soni judged the performances and gave their observations and suggestions for better performance to the teams.
Top three participants were selected for the finals these were (1) Dept. of Dramatics – “Gandhi Jinda Hai” – Directed by Rahul Kumawat, (2) St. Xavier’S College – “Najariya” – Directed by Hemant Dubey & Muskan Sharma and (3) Kanoria P.G. Mahila Mahavidhyalaya – “Azadi ka Aabhas” – Directed by Harsimran Kaur.
